Spirited Indonesian Team Take 2015 Amsterdam Cup


Indonesia and Norway faced off for the second time this tournament in the third tier trophy stage, competing for the Amsterdam Cup. In the second round, Indonesia edged out Norway in a penalty shoot out.
The Asian nation started the game well, taking an early lead, and coped very well throughout the game with the physical play of Norway. The second half saw plenty of goals and with two minutes to go Indonesia received a blue card. They managed to hold on to the lead and at full time it was Indonesia who won the game. At full time, the score was Indonesia 6, Norway 5.
Indonesia ranked 10th place in last year’s tournament. Indonesia first participated in a Homeless World Cup in 2011, and reached the semi final stages in 2012 where they ended up in 4th place after loosing the match against Brazil. The Indonesian team are always proud of their unique hair-styles, which have now become an expected trademark of the team at the Homeless World Cup.
The Norwegian squad landed the 30th position in last year’s rankings. Their first ever participation was in 2005 when they landed in 24th place.
The final Amsterdam Cup matches finished as follows:
  • Northern Ireland 4 – USA 7
  • Slovenia 5 – Peru 4
  • Argentina 4 – Russia 6
